The Outdoor Program

Paddling

Whether you are paddling for the first time or you are a class IV boater, the Emory & Henry Outdoor Program can bring you to the fulfilling experience that is available on the creeks and rivers of Southern Appalachia.

The Program's staff is ACA trained, following the national standard for paddling and safety as defined by the American Canoe Association.

We'll outfit you with the best gear, and you will get to try our variety of rafts, canoes, and kayaks. The campus pool is heated and provides an ideal clinical setting to build the skills needed for whitewater adventure.

In the E&H Outdoor Program, you’ll have the opportunity to challenge our beloved rapid the "Fist" on the nearby South Fork of the Holston and then, if you are ready, splash down the superb drops of the White Top Laurel. Regularly, the Program travels to experience some of the best water on the east coast, including the New River in West Virginia, the French Broad in North Carolina, and the Nolichuckey River in Tennessee.
